Avira takes the AVcomparatives test – technology that really impresses!

For many years now, the testers at AV-comparatives (www.av-comparatives.org) have been assessing the reliability with which the most common virus scanners do their work. August 2009 was the date of the most recent test. Avira’s antivirus solution led the field of programs with a scan engine.

A total of 16 antivirus programs were put through their paces in the latest test. During the test, Avira AntiVir Premium detected 99.4% of the over 1.5 million new harmful files. It scored just as highly when it came to the detection of more than 2.3 million viruses, worms and Trojans that were active between December 2007 and December 2008.

This is a first-class result, placing the product at the top of the league of virus scanners with a single scan engine. The advantage of this single scan engine technology is that maximum scanning speed can be achieved without placing further demand on computer system capacity. The Premium was also one of the fastest products in the test.
